This release is something with a special meaning to me. This EP is dedicated to my son Serafin, and it contains the tracks that gave me the idea to start Wondermachine. The music in this EP is personal and goes thru the paths I followed in music. It is the connecting bridge between electronic and instrumental approaches, strongly influenced by jazz and improvised forms of music. The track Serafin features Sandro Mariotti on soprano saxophone. I play all other instrumental parts on this EP....

Jazz needs its heroes, its questing pioneers, prepared to prevent the genre ossifying into just another orthodoxy of rigid classifications. It needs its succession of visionaries like Ornette Coleman and groups like Last Exit, to fuss up the conservatives’ suffocating status quos. By necessity the music generated by these saviours won’t satisfy the purists, defying, as it must, the tenets of their safeguarded traditions. These vanguards will operate as the art form’s Trojan horses,...

Paris is also called Paname, mod2&nino are deeply influenced by this city and its suburbs. The music has definitely the French touch: refined, sophisticated and developing in elegant structures. Jazz elements with a minimal approach characterize the music of this brilliant duo, and the result are very contemporary tracks with a strong personal identity. mod2&nino play with spaces, tension and release, the music is intense but breathes. This release features inspired remixes by Storlon ,...

[ WOND010] Revy – Waking EP Revy awakens with an array of cryptic feelings and atmospheres in this eclectic package of uniquely textured sound spaces, emotional synthesis, and off kilter rhythms. Without much regard for genre trends, these multi-faceted works run the gamut of Revy’s experimental palette, ranging from deep and spacey broken beat grooves to bleep laden chaos. John Foley and Ingemar Stalholm join the fray with their best efforts to further probe and massage your...

Pata de Flamingo is an unconventional journey spacing thru styles, time and emotions. Binaural sounds, drone, classic, ambient, and noise evolve and blend softly in this second episode of the Wondercast series. Myniciush (Colombia) are our pilots for this flight. They are strongly influenced by their surrounding ambience and have a particular approach of music including the use of field recordings. This Wondercast does not belong to a specific music style, it tells a story behind a vision and...

[WONDERCAST006] Wanderlust by John Foley This Wondercast celebrates the death of the geocentric model, our departure from anthropocentrism. It celebrates all forms of life, humility, and respect. It rejects of nationalism and borders, and discourages misunderstanding of others. It celebrates our ability to travel around, and meet different folks. Last but not least, it is celebration of the freedom we have to listen to music from nearly every corner of the inhabitable Earth, and to feel it it...

It was a calm and hot summer evening. Fabio asked me to come to his studio and record a live session. I was already a couple of hours too late, I prepared up my material, including a couple of forgotten machines that were lying down in a corner since ages, l and put everything in a big backpack, mounted on my motorbike and crossed the city from an extremity to the other. After setting up my gear, I started playing without a clear goal, just jamming and improvising atmospheres. This Wondercast...

Subtle Mental Mechanics is the first solo album of AVVI (Vital Avtushkov). Vital believes in higher cosmic intelligence, stars show us the way and give us protection, this is an attempt to communicate with them. As a rupture to the work done with Mono’ono explores new music directions and develops a very individual language, influenced by minimal, dub, ambient, the use of live instruments and research done in the integration of noise. Vital went back to his natal village in Belarus to open...

The music of Jarz (aka Gino Maduro) tells stories. He has a natural talent for sound design, and brilliantly combines atmospheres with glitch, experimental sounds and jazz elements. He is a out of the box thinking artist with a strong emotional approach. The result is a subtle, very personal sound, with an incredible care for detail. Revy and Fabio Papa did their best, and bring us radiant interpretations, completing the release with two outstanding remixes. http://www.wondermachine.net

Based in Girona, Spain, and with a musical background orbiting around jazz, funk, groove and ska, Ramacod (Ramon Macià) has created a mental musical salad that he tries to explore and exploit in every release. His productions are heavily based on a cut-n-paste, microsampling technique, always pursuing that magical moment when apparently diverse an unconnected sound samples earn a new life when put together, and the music that emerges becomes more than the sum of its parts. Pachyderme (Franco Bellavita) starts our Wondercast series with a very personal podcast. Everything by Pachyderme is special, he defines his music as “Musica de Autor” (author music) and this is no exception. This Wondercast is a fusion of delicate liveset developed with a very creative use of field recordings and mix. Pachyderme wants your brain, and invites you to this voyage. In this Wondercast we let the force of nature go thru the music machine of Storlon . Aeolian Processes is made of multiple sound sources, routed and re-routed in the microcosm of connections that make the sound signature of Storlon so unique. Organic and breathing sound textures, shifted grooves, and a refined sense for silence are some of its particularities. Sometimes machines are more than just machines. This Wondercast symbolizes the quest for his roots and is a tribute to grandfather Taret, Vietnamese, Nguyen Huy Hoang, who gave up his daughters in the 1960s. Mix of abstracted grooves. Pleasant by the warmth of sound. Disturbing by diverse sound intrusions. Pick what you want. Listeners, be confident, but beware of what can happen. My approach to this Wondercast was like a ride. Baguenader means strolling, but also having the hands in the pockets, it is also the name of a tree traveller. This is my personal definition of Ambient. Electronic music has many facets, beneath the dancefloor, you can evade to uncountable different sounds. My personal vision of music is like walking, my hands in the pockets, and my head in a dream. Before stepping into electronic music, I have learned traditional instruments, and have a soft...

Following its own rules, the approach of Mizgir is soulful, organic, integrating instrumental parts played live as well as improvisational elements. Classical, ethnic, jazz, electronics and silence are the main influences in this open concept. Our fourth Wondercast comes from Cordoba – Argentina. It is an improvised electronic performance by Leonel Jacquier. The approach is expressive electronic minimalist, spacing between urban and tribal sounds. Nature and atmospheres are strongly present. It features nostalgic recordings from the Japanese film “Akira” (1988), by director Kaksuhiro Otomo. In the period of time where Leonel worked on this project, extended parts of forest were destroyed by fire in Argentina; the title is a...

Flat Nandez – Volt Compound (album) Visionary and unclassifiable, Volt Compound is the musical history of Flat Nandez . Influenced by almost everything: house, swing, blues, techno, funk, but also television and poetry – Flat Nandez simply pursues an ideal aesthetic made of surprising contrasts. Raw and refined, his work integrates every kind of sound source with an impressionistic attitude. The interaction between man and machine encounters instrumentalism in an interdisciplinary and...

There comes a time when you have to focus on your own taste and preference, and push that as far as you can. There are sometimes exceptions, Adriano Mirabile makes here one, and explores new territories, headfirst, proving that he can feel at home also breaking the schemes. This was the homework. The limitations make the music, and in this case, avoiding the standards was the exercise. Preparing the material for Wondermachine has been a long process; the scope of the project has also evolved during its realisation. The result is a blend of acoustic, electronics, jazz, ambient and dancefloor funk....

Revy goes Off The Grid with a departure from his usual mixing approach, veering his glitch laden aesthetics into something more akin to an experimental mixtape rather than densely layered techno tracks. Beat matching goes to the wayside in this journey into the more esoteric zones of his hard drives, rich with clicks, bleeps, and haunting emotional melodies. And while the mix would certainly not exist without technology where it is today, it should also serve as a motivation to allow yourself...
